Tips

Having long, glossy, and neatly trimmed fingernails is something that many women take a lot of pride in. I know that I certainly love the way my hands look when my nails are strong and healthy looking. There’s nothing worse than having brittle nails marred by white dots and that flake or peel at their edges. With that in mind, here are some tips to keep your nails looking healthy and strong. One major tip for having great looking nails is to ensure that you have a healthy diet. Our bodies reflect the state of our diet, and a poor diet will unfortunately result in poor fingernails. Foods that contain folic acid, such as berries, citrus fruits, and whole grains, are great for strengthening nails. Also make sure that you remain hydrated by drinking sufficient amounts of water. These simple steps will put you well on the way to having healthy nails. Our nails receive a lot of abuse with all the washing and cleaning that we do on a daily basis. To protect your nails from the effects of harsh soaps and chemicals, wear gloves whenever you’re washing up, cleaning the house, or whenever you’re working in the garden. To give your poor nails a reprieve, try using a handcream solution that contains lanolin or vitamin E. Keep your handcream nearby so that you remember to use it. Avoid fake nails. Fake nails may look great, but it’s at the expense of your real nails. The nail under the fake nail will weaken over time, and will become brittle and weak. Given that nails take some time to grow and repair, this is something that you want to avoid, so try to kick your fake fingernail habit. Follow these simple tips, and you’ll end up with enviable nails in no time.
