Home Remedies for Sunburn

Sunburn results from too much sun or sun-equivalent exposure. It is a burn that we get from the harmful ultraviolet radiation and due to which we normally suffer from inflammation of the skin and other injuries as well. Hence, it is very important for all of us to make sure that we take good care of your skin as sunburns can directly affect your overall appearance and can make you look dark and pale, if we don’t start taking the right kind of steps to prevent or cure sunburns.

Some of the home remedies that can help us with sunburns are cool compresses that you may use with equal parts of water and milk. You can find these cool compresses at any medical stores. Also, you can use various aloe vera-based lotions that really help the skin from getting damaged. You can also go in for cool baths, but make sure the water is not ice cold and avoid perfumes and skin oils that can produce sensitivity reactions and allergies.

You can also mix some barley powder in milk, add olive oil and honey and egg white to it and apply the paste on your face to avoid sunburns on face. Another method to get relief from sunburns is by adding rose water in cold water and to have a refreshing bath. You can also mix a few drops of peppermint oil, sandalwood oil or oatmeal in the bath water if you want. You can also soak cabbage or lettuce leaves in cold water or refrigerate them and when they are cold enough you can lay them on the affected parts of the skin and that should reduce the sunburns and heal the area. A mixture of tomato juice in buttermilk can also prove very effective and will heal the area very quickly.
